Tonight after work I am having coffee with a friend. She suggested dinner, but I asked if she minded just coffee since I am trying to cut back on unecessary spending ... and I know she is too so she seemed relieved. I am excited to see her because I can tell her that I can now come to her wedding next summer (since we aren't going traveling anymore).
Her wedding won't be an expensive trip for us because it's on the island and I have relatives that we can stay with. Plus I already have an outfit in mind to wear, so I won't have to buy anything except the wedding gift.

My friends and I have also traded in the "dinner date" for coffee dates. It saves money, yet we're still socializing. Win-win!
You can also go for bubble tea as another suggestion other then coffee.
If you go have shares in Second Cup (SCU.UN), why not go for coffee there? That way you are paying yourself to drink coffee! (Plus, they offer a nice distribution) :)
