Words cannot begin to describe how annoyed I am at BC Parks (Discover Camping). I STILL haven't received my parking pass that I ordered an entire month ago. Their office is in Vancouver, and they state on their website that passes will be mailed out within 2 business days. So it's not like the letter has to travel very far to get to me.

Yesterday I called (for the third time) and told them that I still haven't received the parking pass. They said they were sorry for my inconvenience, and would look into it. That's what they said the last time! I asked them if it had been mailed out yet, and they said that the passes are handled by a third-party company so they don't have that information. So I asked if I could have a refund. Nope, they don't do refunds on parking passes. So I asked again if I could get a refund on any parking costs I have to pay until I get the pass from them. Nope, they don't do that either. Basically I'm screwed.

Even if/when I do eventually get the pass, it will be valid as of the date I purchased it (June 10). So I've already lost a month. And even if they could somehow make it so that it's valid as of the date that I receive it, it doesn't do me any good because 1) half the summer is already over, and 2) I won't even be in the country this time next year.

J wants to call and raise hell, but I'm going to wait a bit and call them 1 more time before I hand it over to him I think.

BC Parks = fail. Epic fail.

Wow, that's REALLY lame that they're being so bad at offering you temporary/other solutions! Isn't that what customer service is supposed to be about?

Hope it gets resolved soon, and that you miraculously find it in your mailbox today (or soon).

When stuff like that happens to me, it always seems to be easier to deal with in person, especially if a phone call doesn't get anything done. Good luck.

    K -

Sorry if you covered this already... but, did you pay with a credit card? If so, call the credit card company and dispute the charge based on the fact you did not receive what you paid for. Get your refund and let Visa/MC/Amex duke it out with Parks Canada and put the onus on them to show they delivered the goods... Just a suggestion...

That just plain sucks. I can't believe they aren't willing to offer you something for THEIR screw-up. I would be furious.

Are they insane? What if they never find it or you never receive it? No refund? I don't think so!

They can't just take your money and not give you the pass.

wow - that's lame... it's also why I NEVER pay for a parks pass. For the rare times that I camp in a BC park - it's silly.

I would call again this week. When that person can't help you, ask nicely to be placed up the food chain to speak to someone who can.

I did that with Capitol 1. "Hi, I'm a very angry person right now and I absolutely know you just answer the phone and weren't responsible for this so if you'd like to pass me up the food chain to someone else that would be quite fine." Her commment was 'absolutely I can do that for you and by the way, thank you for not taking it out on me (with a smile in her voice).

You've already lost most of July for your pass and, well, summer doesn't last forever here in Canada.
